This instrumental ensemble includes trombonist and bandleader Mike Smith, saxophonist Matt Palmer, guitarist Frank Adriano, bassist Tamara Fernandes, vocalist Tonie Robinson-Miller and drummer William Snodgrass. Members of Irie Vibes are a diverse group of musicians from different cultures with rich and varied musical experiences. Irie Vibes began when Mike Smith recruited some fellow members of the Brampton Concert Band to begin exploring the reggae style. Mike shared many reggae and ska tunes, and eventually broadened the repertoire to include genres that represent all of the band’s members. They are constantly diversifying their musical palette drawing on the unique strengths, backgrounds, and multi-instrumental capabilities found in the group.
Since forming about six years ago, Irie Vibes has been featured at a variety of GTA bars and restaurants. They have also enjoyed providing live entertainment at private parties and wedding receptions. They have performed as part of the Brampton Arts Alive Festival in 2017, the Brampton Party in the Lanes in 2018 and the World of Jazz Festival in 2021 and 2022.
